Multipotentiality: Happy memory

During one of Taylor your Life session (TYL4Grads) for Graduate Student at Tulane University, I was a bit curious when Prof. Julia Lang introduced my cohort to Emilie Wapnick’s TED talk video. TYL4Grads is a five-week chang-making career development lab to support graduate and professional students in designing a meaningful life after graduate school.

The word “ multi-potential-ite” means a person with many interests and creative pursuits. Being a multipotentialite gives an individual the opportunity to discover purpose and design one’s life to suit multiple interests.

If you are a multi-potential-ite like me, you should not be afraid to innovate and embrace your many passions. I will leave you with Emilie’s summary of multipotentialite superpower:

  • Idea synthesis — Combine two or more fields to create a fantastic idea. Innovation happens at the intersection.
  • Rapid learning — less afraid of trying different things and stepping out of their comfort zone. Not Afraid of being a beginner.
  • Adaptability — The ability to take on different roles depending on the need.
